OranY Maen Award of Arms 09/23/06
This scroll was awarded in the East Kingdom on 9/23/06 at the Tiltyard at Linenfields event by Brion and Anna. The scroll is primarily based on the Lindisfarne Gospels folios 11 and 17b. The recipient has no arms, had event and name changes and I was told he "likes green and uses the stag as his symbol." The scroll is done on pergamenta with gouache. The wording is done in an Welsh poetry format called Englyn unodle union.

I had a little trouble trying to get the date in - so after the end of the poem I wrote a "proclamation" - "Done this 23rd day of September A.S. XLI" and let it go. The words on the scroll:

Moons ago, people declared;
to this land did Oran fare.
The rift he filled, as but one bewitched, ensnared ~
as no mere mortal dared.

Exchequer for home with glee,
followed numerous deeds.
He gave his time for his new family’s needs.
The time passed too swiftly.

A better could not be found.
The name Oran Y Maen bound
By Brion and Anna lord made profound
Award of Arms, it astounds.

Here in the East people know,
Tiltyard at Linenfield shows
Barony Concordia of the Snows
By our hand, it does go
