Made You Go Away
By: Ann A. Straut, 6/23/09
Sorry I made you go away
I didn’t know my presence would bother you
It’s not the reaction I expected
And definitely not the one I was hoping for
I didn’t even know if you knew I was there
I was waiting for you to make the first move
I left you alone in case that’s what you wanted
But to run away? That’s not the reaction I expected
I’m sorry my presence caused you pain
Perhaps I’ll just disappear again
I don’t know what I did to hurt you
But I must have been thorough
For you to run before I even said hello
Yes, I love the memory of you
Your soft skin, your hair, your eyes
The way you sang along with your favorite songs
Especially the way you made me laugh
Those feelings are overpowering
Yes, I love the memory of you
But who you are now, I don’t know
Would I even like you, who knows
Not me, I’ll never get the chance
To have just one more dance
Because you run from me and I don’t know why
Did I do something to make you cry?
You shouldn’t believe everything you hear
Because not everyone’s memory is clear
And give me a chance to set things straight
Before your mind is filled by hate
His side, her side and the truth
Are not always spoke forsooth
Yes I love the memory of you
But will I like who you are now?
Pain of rejection
Without knowing why
What did I do
To make you hide?
