i made the Celtic Dream Beanie using a J hook and more of that Caron one Pound Deep Violet. This is a basket weave being sold as a Celtic stitch. I like the look but the bottom edge is too small, so I added a row of SC. I still think it could be bigger.
As the pattern had you do it. The picture with the pattern shows more rounds at the bottom (probably HDC) than you do in the pattern. If you do this project, just make a bigger brim before starting into the actual pattern. Without extra rows, the bottom edge will curl.

With the extra row of SC. Since you're going the opposite direction of the original stitches, it should hold it down nicely. For a bigger brim, used HDC and add more rows if you are doing it after the fact like I did..
