I taught a beginner class on double-faced tablet weaving at Pennsic and wanted people to be able to keep the looms but not have them be expensive for me or the students.
I bought and cut all the pieces ahead of time and put them together at Pennsic to save space during transportation.
Materials for each loom:
- 1/2" PVC pipe - 2 pieces 24", 4 pieces 6" and 2 pieces 4"
- 1/2" PVC elbows - 8 pieces
You can use a pipe cutter or hacksaw to cut them. You may wish to sand them, but the elbows will cover the ends so it is not necessary. I used PVC glue on the elbows before putting them on to make the joints a bit stronger. Be careful, certain types of glue will melt the PVC.
The cost was around $15/loom at the time.
