I took an “Egg Tempera Painting” class at Guild Mirandola during Pennsic 47. What a messy class, but what beautiful results!
Tools: Bowls, paint brushes, paper to paint on
Materials: egg and paint
We cracked the egg over a bowl and let everything but the yolk leave our hand. The egg white was “discarded”. We then “pinched” the yolk and let the insides drain out into a clean bowl and discarded the membrane. Then we cleaned our very messy hands. We then added water to the egg and missed until it was “frothy”.
We then measured pigment into a clean cup and added a few drops of the binder to achieve our “paint”.
Some simplistic basic strokes with the 4 colors we used highlighted
Trying a different technique - interesting the way the colors start to become layered and almost 3D
Some of the white marks are where it rubbed away laying in my basket
Then we went crazy adding paint to see how much depth we could get.
I really like the way it looks. Not the pic, the paint :)
