Pennsic Books

Each year I make a limp binding book for Pennsic.  This year I made one for my daughter as well as myself.  Unfortunately, I had to make them onsite which means that I did not get to harden the leather for the spine or buttons in wax to give the books some strength.  I also prefer sinew to bind the folios, but substituted floss as that is what I had on hand.

I always get asked what I put into the books.  There are a number of things you could add.  We add a calendar, a song book, pages for keeping tracks of accounts  and cash, maps, lists of where our friends are camped, award lists and people we are watching, and lots of blank pages for taking notes during classes, things we want next year, things we can leave home or need replacing, measurements for things to improve, etc.  Here are some example pages. Next year I may print the Thing or a personalized Thing for the A&S classes as I missed a lot of stuff and there were no hard copies this year.  Hope you find some inspiration!
