Took this class at Pennsic with Grace Gamble. It was tough to do, but by the fourth repetition, I think I had it. My picots could be neater, but it was my first try at this style of needlelace. You can see where I accidentally cut the wrong string in the upper right quadrant - it was an easy repair.

It starts by pulling threads
Then you bravely cut out the panes.

You do a running stitch around the edge and then whip stitch it to secure it.
Then you start making the lace.
The blue is holding the pattern on with the presttiched areas we'll be making the lace through.
