Lacis

This was a kit purchased solely for the purpose of learning Lacis.  I was really annoyed I couldn't find the kitty ones, but what can you do?  The kit with Pattern # 1336 from the Creative Circle contained 6-count cotton/ploy net, lace darning thread in size #5 and #3 (slightly thicker and only used around the outside edge), a #16 tapestry needle, graph and instructions.

I had to photo copy the graph so I could cross off the stitches I had completed.  I also found doing the frame a it challenging because if you did not pay attention, you wanted to take the weaving the wrong way.  There was much redoing if I did not like the way the thread lay when going from column to column.  There was also as much weaving in of the ends as doing knitting or crochet.

Paneled for Athena's Thimble at John Barleycorn on 9/3/2022 and recieved Competence in Lacis.

You start at the left of the heart.  There are many small sections where you have to start a new thread.  If you look really closely, the centers of those diamonds are done slightly different to look puffy only because I screwed the first two up and refused to rip it all out again.

The border around the heart.  I almost stopped here and called it done.  I started at the bottom and worked around.  The first row I worked, I did it from the back instead of the front.  You really can't tell.

The finished product.  The biggest trick is keeping the stitches even without distorting the netting.  Also make sure you weave in your ends on the back and stay behind the netting when weaving them in....
