Based on the video for this coaster.
The coaster utilizes 10, 4-ft lengths of cord and alternating square knots. While the video tied off to a hanging dowel, I utilized a cork board and pins. Not sure I like the look of the frayed ends, but I will make another to see if the cord-type makes a difference. It did.
The yellow/gold coaster uses 5mm nylon twisted thread that I had leftover. It is a 3-strand and has a core which made the fringe look a mess. Finished piece excluding the trim is 6" wide by 6.5" long.
The white one does not have a core and is 3mm cotton. The fringe looks a little bit better. Finished piece excluding the trim is 4" wide by 4.25" long.
I utilized a corkboard instead of a dowel to do the ends. Once I tied the first knot, I'd move the pin down to secure it better.
The main part of alternating knots is completed.
I should've left more rope at the top.
Checking the size since the rope I used was a different size from the video. My cup fits.
Ends cut and frayed - no flash.
Finished piece with flash
I had to untwist the cord and remove the core to make the fringe - not a fan
It is really unrully
