Stumpwork Strawberries

This was a kit from M Creative I.  I wanted to do something similar to what I had made at the 2020-02-01 Keepers of Athena's Thimble Embroidery Schola.  I never paneled it and wanted to try for competency in padded and raised work.  I do have working knowledge from raised stem stitch on the traditional flower I paneled in 2021.

The kit included the patterns, embroidery hoop, linen, broad cloth (for the leaves),green covered wires (also for the leaves). a really crappy needle and 4 colors of DMC floss 937 (darker green).581 (lighter green), 347 (red), 746 (kind of off white) and 676 (Light yellow)

Stitches include: couching, long and short satin, buttonhole, stem, corded detached buttonhole, detached chain/lazy daisy, berry, and pistil.  I also tried to add a raised stem stitch inch worm.

The finished piece

The finished leaves and the padding done my way and not stuffed like the instructions called for.  I padded 3 layers on the largest and 2 on the smaller strawberries.

The basic strawberries.  I honestly didn't notice the missing leaf until I went to put the wire leaves in.

Another shot of the finished piece.
